The Mission and the Hard Part

Every new AI product Overjet ships starts as an idea with no infrastructure, no team, and no proven playbook, and someone has to turn that idea into a shipped, scaled product without breaking what already works elsewhere in the business. That's this role. You'll build and lead a team of 10+ engineers dedicated to Overjet's newest AI-driven products, reporting to our Head of Engineering, Practice. You'll own the Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) platform: the system providers and payers rely on to get dental claims priced clearly and paid accurately. If this team doesn't exist, our next wave of AI products doesn't get built. Not because the ideas aren't there, but because nobody owns turning ambiguity into architecture, headcount into a functioning org, and early bets into production systems that dentists, payers, and patients actually trust.

This is a 0-1 job wrapped inside a company that's already moving fast, which means you'll be defining technical standards and building an org that doesn't fully exist yet, staying hands-on enough in the codebase and architecture reviews to earn real credibility, and doing all of it while the rest of Overjet keeps sprinting. If you need a mature roadmap and an established team in place before you're willing to lead, this isn't the seat. What You'll Own

- You will own the build-out of a 10+ engineer organization dedicated to new AI-driven products for our RCM platform, which means hiring, structuring, and scaling teams across global locations as scope and headcount grow, not just managing whoever already reports to you on day one.

- You will own the technical architecture and roadmap for RCM and future new-product lines, which means making build, buy, and sequencing calls under real ambiguity, not executing a plan someone else already scoped.

- You will own alignment between engineering, product, and architecture teams on what gets built and when, which means resolving competing priorities yourself when they don't naturally converge on their own.

- You will own engineering standards and technical credibility for the new-products org, which means staying close enough to the code and architecture reviews that your judgment carries real weight, not just your title.

- You will own capacity planning and engineering operations for your organization, which means forecasting staffing needs against the roadmap and making the hard prioritization calls when they don't line up.

- You will own the relationship with senior leadership on technical direction for new products, which means translating engineering reality into business terms and advocating for what your team actually needs to deliver.
