About This Role

Crusoe is hiring its first Special Fleet Operations Driver — a hands-on, safety-first driver who will move materials, tooling, and equipment between Crusoe's sites, vendors, and carrier terminals, and who will help stand up our fleet and DOT compliance program from the ground up.

This is a hybrid role by design. The majority of your week is driving and warehouse work: running the daily load board, operating our non-CDL commercial motor vehicles within a 150 air-mile radius, and supporting receiving on the warehouse floor when you're not on the road. The balance is program work you own with the Logistics & Fleet Manager — vehicle readiness, registrations and insurance, DVIR discipline, hours-of-service records, and cost tracking across a five-vehicle fleet operating in Colorado, Louisiana, and Oklahoma.

It is a demanding, DOT-regulated, safety-sensitive position for someone with real fleet operations experience who treats compliance as non-negotiable. You'll be self-directed, communicate proactively, and take pride in a clean truck and an on-time, damage-free delivery record. A CDL is not required — every unit in the fleet is under 26,000 lb GVWR.

What You’ll Be Working On

• Daily load board & local transport — check the load board each morning, confirm priorities with the Logistics & Fleet Manager, and execute pickups and deliveries. Verify counts against the BOL, capture proof of delivery, and report exceptions the same day.
• Safe CMV operation & DOT compliance — operate under the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (49 CFR Parts 390–396): documented pre-trip inspections and DVIRs, hours-of-service under the 150 air-mile short-haul exception, cargo securement, and immediate reporting of any incident or citation.
• Loading, unloading & forklift operation — load and unload your own vehicle using forklifts, pallet jacks, and the liftgate; build stable, properly secured loads and handle high-value data center equipment with care.
• Vehicle readiness & preventive maintenance — keep assigned vehicles clean and presentable inside and out, log fuel and mileage daily, and schedule and shuttle units for cleaning, preventive maintenance, and annual DOT inspections — filing every report in the unit's maintenance record.
• Registration & insurance — keep plates, registrations, and insurance ID cards current and in every cab; drive renewals across CO, LA, and OK before anything lapses.
• DVIR & hours discipline — verify daily inspections are performed and signed, route defects for repair, and confirm certification before a unit runs again; pull and audit hours from the ELD platform, maintain short-haul time records, and flag anyone approaching limits.
• Warehouse & receiving support — when not driving, receive and inspect inbound freight, verify against purchase orders, label and put away, stage outbound shipments, and assist with cycle counts and receiving in Acumatica.
• Cost tracking — capture and upload every receipt (fuel, washes, tolls, service), code spend by unit, and deliver a weekly cost report to the Logistics & Fleet Manager.
• Coordination & communication — communicate ETAs, delays, and route changes proactively; coordinate dock appointments and site access with site contacts.
• Compliance & documentation — maintain audit-ready time records, DVIRs, and proof-of-delivery files; track medical-card and registration expirations, keep the accident register current, keep your own driver qualification documents complete, and finish required training on schedule.

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Driving experience — 3+ years operating non-CDL commercial motor vehicles (10,001–26,000 lb GVWR; 24- to 26-foot box or straight trucks), plus warehouse experience in receiving, staging, and pallet handling.
• Fleet operations & DOT knowledge — 2+ years in fleet operations, logistics, or maintenance coordination, with demonstrated knowledge of and adherence to federal DOT regulations: driver qualification, DVIRs, hours-of-service, cargo securement, and accident reporting.
• Leadership readiness — at least 1 year leading people or owning a process end to end — you can train a new hire, hold a standard, and write down how the work is done.
• Forklift — forklift experience required; must complete Crusoe's powered industrial truck training and evaluation (OSHA 29 CFR 1910.178) before operating equipment. Able to load and unload independently.
• License & eligibility — valid driver's license with a clean 3-year MVR; at least 21 years of age (49 CFR 391.11); able to obtain and maintain a DOT medical examiner's certificate — the physical is company-paid with a National Registry examiner.
• Documentation habits — airtight and unglamorous: receipts, logs, and expiration dates don't slip past you.
• Systems comfort — ELD / telematics platforms, spreadsheets, and expense tools.
• Physical requirements — able to lift 50 lbs unassisted, climb in and out of the cab and cargo box, and work outdoors in Colorado weather at active construction and data center sites, including year-round yard work.
• Safety & compliance — this position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required. Must pass a background check, motor vehicle record review, pre-employment drug screening, DOT physical, and Crusoe road test.

Bonus Points

• Experience in a DOT-regulated fleet maintaining driver qualification files, DVIRs, and short-haul time records.
• Experience standing up a fleet or compliance program where none existed, or writing the SOPs for one.
• Fleet telematics and dash cam programs (e.g., Geotab) and ERP receiving (Acumatica or similar).
• Current forklift operator card, OSHA 10, or a Class A/B CDL — not required, but valued as the fleet grows.

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $31 -$34/HR + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicants knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. (#INDMFG)
